Kendal College is committed to supporting all of it’s learners and recognises the additional support often needed to those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

In line with the Equality Act (2010), no one should be discriminated against because of their sexuality, gender identity or gender reassignment.

People who identify as LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) are said to make up between 5% and 10% of the general population. 

Ways we offer support:

  • Gender neutral toilets on both campuses
  • Ease of changing name and registered gender if required-speak to student services/ learning services.
  • Social acceptance from staff and students
  • Support to communicate with tutor, opportunity to discuss emotional and social aspects with our Wellbeing officer.
  • Support to access appropriate services
  • Take any discrimination very seriously
  • Open to suggestions to move forward and for reasonable adjustments
